Book version was much more voilent than fiilm, more deaths more injuries, film could not emulate that in that fomr, 1975 version better than remake.

"I LOVE THIS GAME" Well here it is, all you Rollerball fans out there, a site where we can share information and photographs with each other. I have supplied as much information and photos as I can but will be submitting more when I am able. With luck we will find a props guy, stuntman, or actor from the movie who has kept some of the Rollerball gear to share photos with us. There are rumours that the equipment used was listed/explained in a copy of Sports Illustrated, but I couldn` t find it in their archives. I have one of Harv`s Houston replica jerseys and helped with ideas for the Tokyo jersey. These are very good quality and highly recommended.

good site mate, glad to see you have got otgether full kit, can you get gear complete, are the jerseys good? Loads of soccer lads in london loved the film and would have liked to have a go, no doubnt the Mancs and Brummies would as well.Maybe we should have a Uk version, meeting of all the fans, oversized footie shirts and DM's as well the rest of the gear, would be greatr. Some lads thought it was already played in America and this was just a documentary, have you got more pics or suppliers of kit, suppose we could usae black DM's for footwear, imagine Jack Wilshere, Frank Lampard, Rooney paded up in the kit, fucking lovely

Anyone know anything about the Tokyo team? I am curious how they found the skaters - ESPN has a piece on the movie, 30-30 I think, that talked about taking football players and teaching them to skate, making up the rules of the game as the filming progressed, etc., but no word on the Japanese skaters, who were smaller, but athletic and the most stylish.

Mark, my name is Eddie. I am the real Captain of the Tokyo team in Rollerball. My number is #8. The way that I heard how they got us skaters from Roller Derby in the Bay Area is, they went to Japan, but the skaters were to short and that there weren't to many skaters. They came to Alameda, Ca, home of Roller Derby training center, asked if there were any Japanese skaters. Luckily for me , I was at the right place and the right time. I signed on the dotted line, they took other Roller Derby Skaters to skate in Rollerball. From the Bay Area, I was the only Japanese skater. I have not seen any movie on 30-30segment. They gave us airline tickets, flight to Munich, Germany, the rest is history to us. Spent 3 months in Germany, filming the skating portion of the movie. Norman Jewison really liked me, so I was cast as the Captain of the Tokyo team.

I had two posters in my room growing up; SlapShot and Rollerball. It is one of my favorites. Even though it was supposed to be a critique of violence in sports, having Dick Enberg and Bob Miller gave it a more positive spin than what they were looking for.

Hi to everyone.my name is Dennis from the U K and I have been a Rollerball fan since before the film was released. It has been an obsession if truth be known. How could I be a fan before the release? I'll tell you. I first heard about it in Film Review and it then got air time on World of Sport which was the main sports program back in the sixties and seventies. Sometimes it even had Roller Derby featured. Anyway. Dickie Davies was the presenter and it showed an interview with James Caan and John Beck trackside during the filming. That was it I was hooked. I used to check the papers every week to see if it was released and showing at the cinemas. Had Jaws not been released at the same time Rollerball would defiantley have got more and may I say deserved recognition.

Hi all! Great site! I have some information about the corporate cities and the teams that I would like to share. About 12 years ago I saw an image online of a spreadsheet that listed all the Rollerball corporations and the cities they owned. There was a capital city, for example Houston - Capital city of the Energy corporation, New York - Transport, Moscow - Housing, Madrid - Food, etc. etc. and dozens of subordinate cities owned by the same corporation. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find this picture again. I think it came with a Rollerball promotional package but I'm not sure. Houston we know is an Energy city, Madrid is Food, Tokyo is Luxury, Rome is Communication, Paris I think is housing but I'm not positive, and New York is owned by Transport.

We have a few iconic original items used by the actors from the original 1975 Rollerball movie up for auction on November 8th. We acquired them directly from one of the stuntmen that played several parts in the movie. You can see all of the details here:

Wow, crickets. Thought I would get a bunch of questions about these items - we have not seen anything come up for sale before other than a helmet a while back. Anyway, looks like there is already pre-auction bidding on them, and I have had several emails about them. So if you have questions, ask now, and make sure you register for the auction now, because if there are issues registering during the auction we will not be available to assist since we'll be running the auction live. Good luck for those bidding!

Pretty cool piece of 70's cinima history. If I don't get a reasonable offer it will go to auction in LA in February.

2 things I noticed were - 1. All the catchers caught with their right hand. 2. At the beginning of the film the catcher gloves looked stiff and the fielding (catches) looked as if it was done at a slow speed because the glove was not broken in. In the Toyko and NY games the catcher gloves looked broken in and the catches were smooth as the players seemed to be moving and skating much faster.

Hey all, what's happend to this great website? I was fortunate enough to meet James Caan this summer on his only UK visit to a convention and to top it off I managed to finish my Rollerball costume that i've been collecting and working on for over 30 years. Is there a way of uploading pictures on here as i'm confident that's it's the most accurate costume in existence, aside from screen used of course, even had Mr Caan asking how i'd collected all this stuff to which I had to convince him i'd made it all myself!

Keep your head safe with the best roller derby helmet. It may be any game in the world. Indoor or home games are rather safe because the tools and equipment are used to play the games are rather simple and harmless.
